La Family Calderon is a family that deeply values faith, love, and purpose. Our family is composed of entrepreneurs who are passionate about making a positive impact in the world, while also living in alignment with our Christian values. Hector Calderon

Hector was born in Armenia, Colombia May 12 1974. He left Colombia at the age of 18 to the USA, where he completed his high school in Columbus GA, and where he also joined the US Navy in 1994. He faithfully served the US Navy for 20 years, He completed 4 tours during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. After his retirement he became a missionary, by working with the Non-profit organization Works for the Glory of God. He answered God’s call to continue the work he started when he worked for the US Navy by serving others. Him and his family began by doing mission work in Mexico for two years in 2016 and 2017. Then he went to Pereira, Colombia where he has been stationed since 2018. While in Colombia, they traveled to Israel for a mission trip, where he utilized his skills to build the inside facilities of a Christian church in Ber ‘Sheva, Israel in 2019. The most recent project they are working on, is the construction of a training center facility for single moms and their children in the city of Pereira, Colombia. Hector Loves to teach all he knows, things like construction, English, drawing, and most importantly the word of God. The family loves spending time, watching movies, and traveling to different places.

 Liz Calderon

Liz Katherine Calderón was born on May 30, 1986, in the beautiful city of Pereira, Colombia. She is the only child of her parents, José and Stella. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, she studied at the Police School in her hometown. After graduating from high school, she pursued and completed her studies in criminal investigation and forensic sciences, as her dream was to work for the FBI in the USA. Over time, she developed a passion for fashion and graduated in haute couture. Following this, she opened her first boutique clothing store.

 

Her vision for the future changed, and she aspired to become a clothing provider in the city and its surroundings. She was granted a visa to visit the United States, where she met Hector Calderón, who would later become her husband on April 19, 2013. Together, they successfully opened four clothing stores in the city of Pereira. In January of 2014, their son Benjamin was born, a product of their love.

 

In the same year, on May 3, Liz was invited to visit a congregation in Oxnard, California, for a women's gathering. During this visit, she had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, whom she deeply fell in love with. Her love for God led her and her husband to make the decision to change their lives and serve Him full-time, traveling to nations to preach the Gospel and help those in need.

 

In 2015, they established their nonprofit international organization, Works for the Glory of God, as a 501(c)(3) in the United States. They began their missionary travels with their son in Mexico, Central and South America, and Israel. Currently, they are directing the foundation and Training Centre Facilities  in Pereira, Colombia, which is also a nonprofit organization. Their focus is on providing free classes and training in different areas, caring for and educating the children of mothers and families attending the center, and offering spiritual guidance rooted in love, unity, and a sense of family with Jesus Christ as the foundation.

 

Liz is a compassionate person who is sensitive to the pain of others. She is a dreamer, hardworking, and persevering, which has greatly contributed to her achievements. In her free time, she enjoys going to the cinema, going on outings, traveling, and reading.

Benji Calderon

Born on January 14th, 2014, Benji is the son of Hector and Liz Calderon and has two beloved sisters, Julia and Alexa. He is homeschooled by his mother Liz and is currently in fourth grade with the Enlightium Academy located in the state of Washington, USA. Benji has had a passion for playing the piano since the age of five. He loves reptiles and insects, and despite his young age, he can already draw very well. Benji also enjoys athletics, soccer, and swimming. He loves reading the Bible, designing robots with LEGO, and making stop-motion movies. At the age of three, he began serving in the Works for the Glory of God ministry on mission trips, distributing food, clothing, school supplies, Christmas gifts, and singing and entertaining the attending children. He has traveled to various places in Mexico, Colombia, Israel, and the USA on these mission trips.
